Lifelong Engagement

ALA continues to cultivate our young leaders throughout their lives, in university and beyond, with leadership mentoring and by connecting them to high-impact networks of people and capital. As such ALA is not just a school, but a life-long network developing innovative, entrepreneurial leaders to achieve large-scale change for the continent. We aim to develop the next Nelson Mandela, the next Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, and the African Bill Gates and Jonas Salk.
Today, the ALA network includes almost 400 young leaders from 43 African countries, selected from nearly 10,000 applicants. These young leaders are already launching projects and chasing dreams that have the potential to transform Africa. They have built nonprofit organizations to address entrenched social issues; they have launched profitable businesses; and they have shared their ideas on a global stage. They have coalesced into a powerful community, and they will work together to build larger initiatives and have greater impact as their lives progress.
